Artist
Statement
As an artist I
am interested in exploring the formal elements of painting, drawing
and textile printing and dyeing. My work uses a variety of processes
and techniques within each piece. Much of my art is based on my
knowledge of color theory and the juxtaposition of complimentary
colors. I like to experiment with the combination of color and
pattern within the constraints of the human silhouette. This is
a way for me to explore the relationship that exists between sound,
rhythm, repetition and movement within the body. Similarly I try
to express patterns that exist within nature and organic shapes
that I see on a daily basis. The environment I live in and the
experiences that occur in my life have been the source of all
my inspiration. I feel as though my art creates the same kind
of sensations that are felt in this overwhelming information society.
My work was a culmination of this variety of influences.
